Navigating Photonics Graduate School Abroad
Max Planck School of Photonics hosts a joint event with OSA and DAAD
What career opportunities do I have in science and industry with a German PhD? What funding opportunities are there in Germany? And what is it like to live, study and research there? Most young talents ask themselves these and many other questions before they consider joining a German graduate school. And these questions urgently need to be answered. Many international students do not even know how many opportunities there are in this country and do not have Germany as the "number one" research destination on their agenda.
We want to change that and make the Max Planck School of Photonics and Germany as a photonics location known internationally. So, we were more than happy when OSA Europe Director Dr. Claus Roll approached us with the idea of a joint virtual information event. In Peter Kerrigan, Deputy Director in the New York Office of the DAAD, a partner was quickly found who is able to answer general questions about studying in Germany and other funding opportunities than our school.
And so we are very pleased to invite you to our joint zoom event on Friday, November 13th at 4 PM UTC (= 5 PM German Time).

We will start with short keynote speeches by the following speakers:

- Prof. Carsten Rockstuhl: MPSP Fellow @ Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
- Peter Kerrigan: Deputy Director, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), New York Office
- Alejandra Zegarra: PhD student, Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology, OSA Student Chapter Jena
