6. General Information
FAQ 6.1 Where will students live during the duration of the program?
Ultimately, students are responsible for arranging their own accommodation for the duration of the program.
In the orientation period (first year) you will need to complete at least two lab rotations with different fellows of the Max Planck School of Cognition. However, we have fellows in multiple cities. Thus, for the first year we can assist you in finding appropriate accommodation in dormitories near the chosen labs. At the beginning of the second year students will have identified the lab where they would like to develop their PhD research work and can then look for a longer-term accommodation.
During the cognition academies (i.e., classroom weeks) the school will organize central accommodation for the students to create a feeling of community.
FAQ 6.2 Is there childcare at the Max Planck School of Cognition?
The school can directly support young families with children by providing childcare facilities. In addition, doctoral candidates will have the right to maternity leave and the duration of their contracts will be adjusted accordingly (i.e. lengthened based on how much leave was taken). The school will particularly encourage and support women in their careers.
